All items are hand-painted, no prints!
Scarves are made using a hot wax (in this case pure high-quality stearin) batik technique. Dyes are colorfast and environmentally friendly.
The scarf could be washed by hand with one drop of mild detergent. All silks have hand-rolled and hand-sewn hems.
We offer 3 kinds of silk fabrics to choose - (1) Habotai silk 05 mm - lighter more sheer weight and (2) Habotai silk 08 mm -heavier weights and more sturdy, (3) Crepe de Chine 10 mm silk - the heaviest weight we have, but all colors look paler on it.
About batik
Batik is a wax-resist method of dying. I am painting with a mix of beeswax and stearin on natural silk using various brushes and tjanting. Where the fabric has been covered with wax, that color remains when dyed next layer. Subsequent waxing and dying make unique ornaments. For these reasons, no two batiks are alike...they are truly unique and one of a kind. Removing wax takes time - fabric is ironed through a paper to remove wax, after that steamed for 4 hours in order to make colors durable, washed, and ironed once again.
Care
Please, a quick hand wash only in lukewarm water (do not soak) with one drop of delicate detergent. Do not wring or twist - roll in a towel to extract water. Iron while silk is a little bit wet. All batiks are washed for the first time after steaming.
